Bard Road

jmarchitects were appointed by Tri Capital to complete the shell and core fit out of this three storey building close to White City, West London. The brief was to appeal to creative and tech industries and business startups.

The building is divided into six individual units of varying sizes from the smallest at 55m2 to the largest at 238m2, catering for a wide variety of needs. The design enables units to be combined should additional space be required as the company grows.

The central stair was given a sculptural ash balustrade rising through the three floors, carefully designed in partnership with a lighting designer to help animate the space. A compact central shared core of shower rooms and lavatories was designed using high quality fittings and materials.

In addition to the internal designs, jmarchitects also produced branding and marketing logo for the building, which is incorporated in the a wayfinding strategy and within a bespoke stainless steel and corten entrance gate which announces the development to the street.

The Challenge

The patterns of place and architecture within Edinburgh’s Old Town have been determined by many different factors throughout the life of the city, which have, in turn, generated an enormously complex urban condition.

The Solution

In understanding the historic patterns and processes of the Old Town, we have created a site specific response which celebrates the unique qualities of the City.
