Our proposals for a major residential development at Alton Road, Roehampton were granted planning consent last night, by the planning committee in Roehampton, Wandsworth.

The proposed housing scheme, designed for Optivo, will demolish the existing vacant 1960’s buildings to make way for the new affordable housing development. 95 new homes, surrounded by high-quality landscaping and courtyard amenity space will provide much-needed new homes in this predominantly residential area.

The development will provide 100% affordable housing including one block solely designed to provide extra care facilities for the older Wandsworth residents.

jmarchitects have designed the residential blocks between 2, 5 and 6 stories to remain sensitive to their immediate neighbours and nearby Richmond Park. Extensive surveys were carried out to ensure the proposals do not negatively impact on the ecology of the park and the new landscaping will encourage enhanced biodiversity to the area.

The plans include 3000m2 of amenity space for the residents, in a courtyard at the heart of the development. The aspirations of jmarchitects were well received through public consultation which was applauded by the planning committee with unanimous approval for the scheme to proceed.
