jmarchitects were approached by Hub South West in March 2019 to carry out a feasibility project for the addition of two extensions to a dual denomination primary school that jmarchitects completed in 2012 for North Lanarkshire Council, All Saints & Rochsolloch Primary Schools located in Airdrie. The client’s requirements were for Rochsolloch Primary School to receive a single class extension with All Saints Primary School receiving a two class extension, and we were successful in being appointed to the project following a positive feasibility study.
Linear Design & Construct were appointed as the design & build contractor with Blyth & Blyth appointed as civil, structural and mechanical & electrical consultants. Designs were refined, statutory consents applied for and construction drawings progressed during 2019 with works commencing on site in March 2020, just in time to tie in with government guidelines and restrictions. Works continued on site as and when possible complying with government guidelines and preparatory works were carried out whilst the school was still in operation, which can sometimes be a tricky operation but Linear carried this out very well. The majority of the work to the extensions was due to be carried out during Easter and summer holidays due to access restrictions and maintaining safe working areas, again Linear carried these out well and works were kept generally on programme.
The single classroom extension to Rochsolloch was completed and handed over in September 2020 with the two class extension to All Saints being completed and handed over in December 2020.
Photos below are from the All Saints School extension, Rochsolloch has yet to be photographed.
