jmarchitects have recently achieved practical completion of the £44m Largs Campus for North Ayrshire Council. Delivered by Morrison Construction the campus is one of the biggest projects ever undertaken by the private/public partnering organisation hub South West.
This ambitious project includes a nursery and two primary schools: Largs Primary and St Mary’s, as well as the town’s secondary school: Largs Academy. In total, the Campus will accommodate more than 2000 pupils and its facilities include two theatres, a gym hall believed to be the largest in the UK and art classrooms with balconies that enable outdoor working with views along the Ayrshire Coastline.
Councillor John Bell, cabinet member for education and youth employment, said: “The facilities at Largs Campus are going to be the best in Scotland. We will have the best sports facilities in Scotland, if not the UK. I am so proud of this facility and know that the young people have a fantastic environment to attain and achieve.”
The primary school staff and pupils are already settling into the new building with those from Largs Academy set to join them on April 18.
