Lossiemouth High School Site Update
The new £42m Lossiemouth High School designed by jmarchitects for The Moray Council and hub North Scotland is progressing well on site. With the steel frame almost complete for both blocks, feature stairs in place and works to the roof well under way the building is beginning to take shape and currently on target for achieving completion of Phase 1 in August 2020 ready for the new school term.
Situated to the rear of the existing High School, the building designed in our Edinburgh studio is essentially formed of two blocks; a teaching block, and a sports block, which meet at the eastern side of the site to create a shared frontage and external public plaza. With accommodation distributed over 3 floors and arranged around central, double-height social and performance spaces. The building form has been designed to be as compact as possible whilst still presenting a robust, civic appearance. The design of flexible teaching and learning spaces will provide a high quality environment that will inspire both staff and young people to achieve their full potential with facilities such as the Library and Pool proposed for community use also.
