Aboyne Lodge

Aboyne Lodge

We are delighted to say that our project to refurbish and upgrade Aboyne Lodge School has now received Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent. The School is of prefabricated steel frame and reinforced concrete panel construction and is an early example of the celebrated post-war Hertfordshire school building programme. As such, it is a building of great historical value and this is reflected in its Grade II listed status.

Our proposals involve the sensitive refurbishment of the building to meet modern school standards together with repairs to the existing historic fabric. They will include providing new internal floor finishes, IT services, insulation, WC’s and mechanical ventilation, together with replacing the roof finishes, repair of the external panels and redecorating throughout. Externally, the school will have a new colour scheme, with the existing metal infill panels painted in a range of colours coded according to year group. The layout of the building will remain largely unchanged, although there are two small areas of remodelling to provide a server room so the school IT provision can be upgraded and to provide a kitchenette for the staff room.
